Utahraptor (meaning "Utah-thief") is the largest known member of the theropod dinosaur family Dromaeosauridae (raptor), and dates from the Early Cretaceous Period.

It was 20-23 feet long. This size was great enough to enable these monstrous raptors the potential to attack, at best, even small Sauropods.

Walking With Dinosaurs[]

Utahraptor were featured in Episode 4: Giant of the Skies, hunting various plant-eating dinosaurs such as Iguanodon and Polacanthus. It was shown to be capable of hunting in packs and launching ambushes similar to those of modern lions or similar carnivores. It also had a pecking order in which to feed - adults first and subadults later. After the credits of the Making Of video, a talking, smoking Utahraptor complains about how hard it was to work with the Animators.

Specials[]

Utahraptor did appear in the specials.

Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular[]

Utahraptor were featured again in Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular, like in the series, a pack of Utahraptor are seen. They are eating what looks like a carcass of an Iguanodon, and one lunges at the narrator Huxley.
