Homo Heidelbergensis (meaning "Heidelberg Man) were hominids that lived from Great Britain to South Africa. They were the direct ancestors of Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapiens.

FactsEdit

Homo Heidelbergensis were much higher than Homo Sapiens, reaching between 1.80 and 2.15 metres tall. They developed another kind of tools, the spears, wich were very useful against their preys.

A group of Homo Heidelbergensis was shown hunting a Megaloceros in the last episode of "Walking with Cavemen". One member of the group is killed by the giant deer and the others perform a ritual on behalf of his death, being the first creatures to realize that the death of someone is his end and their rituals are a way to say goodbye to the person who died.
