Oxfordshire is a county of England, UK. Before Europe became a recognisable continent, it was a scattering of islands during the Jurassic Period.
The conditions 149,000,000 years ago were shallow, tropical seas with small islands dotted between them. Oxfordshire today, is a very different world of course, being far further North of the Equator and generally part of a temperate climate system, with much lower temperatures and a completely transformed landscape, with nearly 150 million years of constant change rendering the Jurassic Period of the Oxford Clay deposits, unrecognisable today. A lot can happen, in 149,000,000 years.

The filming location was in The Bahamas for most of the water scenes, and New Caledonia for most of the island forests and beach scenes.
